meet Ellie!

On Christmas I was looking on craigslist and KSL looking at kittens because I think they're cute. After finding some cute ones and bribing Bryce a little I got a little kitten! Her name is Ellie. She's 4 months old and sooooo cute! She is finally getting use to the house and she comes out and plays with her toys. She is potty trained so luckily I didn't have to deal with that. She also likes to cuddle. At night she will lay on me for hours! It's cute. She is still scared of Bryce but she is getting use to him. She is also attached to me. I love my little Ellie. Check out how cute she is!

Her eyes are closed in all the pictures because the flash was blinding her!

21st Birthday!

I turned the big 2-1 on the 29th! Bryce and I went to a movie, ("How do you know"--which is SUPER DUMB, don't go see it!) walked around the mall and went to TEXAS ROADHOUSE for dinner!! The weather was super snowy, wet and cold and the roads were HORRIBLE! They were covered in ice and you seriously could have ice skated on them. It was pretty scary! All in all, I had a great day! Here are some pictures!

My dad also gave me $100 bucks, and Granny gave me $10.

Christmas 2010

Bryce and I celebrated our first Christmas together! It was fun, we opened presents and went to Jenny's parents house for Christmas casserole breakfast, came home and watched movies and relaxed! It was a great day! Here are a few pictures!

Oh, the weather outside is...

WEATHER!

Yepp, we had one snow day here out in Utah. I feel bitter sweet about because it just doesn't feel like Christmas yet because there is no snow! Although I am grateful it was a warm day outside today.

I leave on Tuesday to go home for a week and I get to go to two of my best friends wedding! Dani Jarman and Phillip Enkey will be married in the Washington DC temple on Friday the 17th. I am so excited that I get to go and be there for them. I also get to go down to North Carolina for the reception. I will get to see people that I haven't seen since 2006! I am so excited! Unfortunately Bryce won't be able to go because he has to stay home and work :(

I'm very excited to see my family too and spend time with them.

Anyways, I hope everyone is having a good holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving Bryce and I just had it together because we are so far away from our families. I don't know how to make a Turkey so the day before my mom suggested to get "Hungry Man" turkey dinners and cook those. So, I did. They actually turned out pretty good! We added green beans and I baked some rolls to add to it, and of course sparkling cider! And for dessert we had Turtle Pie!

It was a fun relaxing day, we were glad to sleep in and lounge around, we also went to see Harry Potter 7! After that we watched more movies and enjoyed our time together. Today we are going to get our first Christmas tree and get some decorations for it!

Bryce, before the food! (That is Root Beer on the side table)

Happy 2 months!

Today, Bryce and I have been married for 2 months! This second month has gone by very slow, although it is crazy that Halloween is in 3 days! ( I still don't know what I am going to dress up as for our ward Halloween party). Anyways, last night in the car I asked Bryce what he is going to get me/do for me on our 2 month anniversary. This time I actually get something, but I'll let you decide how special it made me feel:

Me: "Do you know what tomorrow is?"
Bryce: "Halloween?"
Me: "No, it's the 28th tomorrow"
Bryce: "Oh, we've been married for 2 months."
Me: "Yep, so what are you going to get me this time?"
Bryce: "I'll take you to the dollar movie."
...silence...
Bryce: "We can see 'Despicable Me', you wanted to see that"

Anyways, I guess being married for 2 months is better then one because at least I get to go to the movies, even if it is just a dollar one.

Poor Derrick

Poor Derrick died last night.
Not in a bad way, but as I was vacuuming (and yes I had a reason to vacuum, I spilt powdered sugar all of the floor) the on and off button broke. It wouldn't stay on and I had to hold the button down for it to stay on. So this morninig I called the doctor (Dyson company) and they set him up with an appoinment to have surgery. Bryce took him in around 5:30 today and they will call us when he is all better. Hopefully, it won't take too long and luckily he is under warranty (for 5 years :)).
The sad thing is, is that we have only had little Derrick for 1 week!

Hopefully I will have my baby back soon!

PS- I'm not sure why I personalize my toys but I do. I feel an attachment to them.

Cooking vs Baking

Personally, I don't know how to cook. I can microwave things, and make macaroni and cheese and simple stuff. I don't know how to make chicken or steak etc. I mean I'm sure if I really tried I could. Luckily for me, Bryce does know how to cook. He makes really good meals and he enjoys cooking. But on the other hand, I'm learning that I can make yummy treats.

My chocolate chip cookies are amazing. I brought them to a work BBQ the other day and everyone said they were probably one of the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Last night I had the desire to make Granny's peanut butter bars. Now, she's been making these for a long time. I however, have never made them before and I wasn't even sure if I was doing it right. But I tried, turns out they were soooo good and they probably were better than granny's. ;)

(this is how my cookies turn out and that is what they should look like, not brown and thin so be sure to watch them around the 8 min mark)

So, with cooking vs baking I pick baking. And Bryce probably is glad that I pick baking too. Now all I need to do is go work off all the calories that come from the treats.

Now, tomorrow as Bryce and I watch conference I am going to make cinnamon sticks.

Wish me luck!

PS: If you are interested in making my delicious cookies or peanut butter bars here is the recipe:

Cookies:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3-4 cups flour (I usually use 3)
1 bag of chocolate chips (I use semi sweet)

Bake at 375 for 8-12 min (mine usually are complete around 10 min)
*also, if you have a pampered chef stone pan, those are the best to use!

Granny's Peanut butter bars:

Melt together: 1/2 cup of butter or margarine
2 cups of peanut butter

Melt over low heat and watch because it burns easy. I melt the butter before I put the peanut butter in.

Mix together: 1 lb. of powered sugar (this is about 3 and 1/2 cups but it is easier if you have just a lb box)
3 cups of rice krispies

Add the melted peanut butter and butter to the powered sugar and rice krispies. They need to be mixed really really well and I just use my hands. You want the mixture to be moist but not gooey. Press the mixture into 9x13 pan again really really well. If this isn't done well the bars will not hold together and will be crumbly.

The recipe calls for a package of semi-sweet chocolate chips but I like to use a package of milk chocolate chips and 1/2 a pkg of semi-sweet. Melt the chocolate chips (I use the micro-wave-takes about 2 minutes.) Spread the chocolate on the bars and let sit until the chocolate hardens.

**Don't put in the refrigerator for them to harden or you will make them too hard. If you want to chill them for about 15 min to speed up the process you can but remember, not too long!

Enjoy!

My new love...

Yep, you read right. My new love. You're probably thinking what is she talking about she just got married. A month ago! Well, let me explain.

Meet Derrick.

That's right. Derrick is my new Dyson vacuum!

I love him and he loves me. He cleans up all the messes in the carpet, he can clean the tile floor, he cleans the bathroom rugs and he loves to clean the stairs. Let's not forget that he also can clean your car! Whenever you need to vacuum Derrick the Dyson will be there for you!

I am in love! My mom has had a Dyson for a long time and I never appreciated a good vacuum, until I had a crappy one. Derrick was partly a wedding present (from my parents) and Bryce and I paid the other part (with money from the wedding).

Bryce thinks I'm crazy because I like to vacuum everyday, even if there isn't a mess and he laughs every time I pull it out. But, I can't help it! If he vacuumed I'm sure he would love it too.

Anyways, just a post to another love in my life!
