Medical Assisting

I don't know who reads this blog but this is mainly for journaling purposes. As you might know I am in school for Medical Assisting. I started in March and the last day of class is December 18th. It has flown by. When I was deciding to do this program I didn't know if I would like it. I was never interested in the medical field. I gave it a try and I love it. I find the human body fascinating and I am excited to do what I have been trained to do. Anyways, at the end of the course you are required to complete 180 hours of an unpaid externship with a doctor. 2 weeks ago I got an email from a lady at my school who helps find externships for students. She said that my teacher requested me directly (and a few other students) for this externship at a Women's Clinic and to send her my resume as soon as I could. I was so excited! I sent it on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Then on Monday I got an email from the clinic! She was interested in setting up an interview and was looking to hire the externships after they complete the hours. This was exactly what I wanted. We set up an interview for the next day. My teachers were super excited for me and told me that I had this. I did a practice interview and I was prepared. I went to my interview, and was asked a few questions like "Why did you want to become an MA? What is your favorite class and your least favorite class?" So Simple. (I was interviewed with 3 people from the clinic). They were talking about what I would need to do to get the externship process started. I took this as a good sign. They then said that we will call you tomorrow and let you know what we decided.

After I left, I called my mom and started telling her about the interview. 7 minutes later I got a phone call...I answered it and it was the clinic. They said, "Hi Jordyn, this is *so&so* from the clinic, and we want you. We decided that we didn't want to wait till tomorrow to let you know." I was sooo happy and excited! I then called my mom back and said, there is no point in telling you about the interview anymore because I got the externship. I got an email later that day saying they were excited for me to work with them and that I will do very well.

I am so grateful for this opportunity. My school is very excited for me because I am working under a great lady that everyone loves. I am done with all the paperwork and now I am just waiting to start. I am starting on December 19th. The day after classes. My teacher thinks that I will be offered the position before January 1st. That is my goal! I'm thankful for the support from Bryce and my family. I love that they called to talk to me about it and are excited for me!

On a side note, I am in a class that helps you make your resume. I got it all made and it was amazing. When I emailed the clinic my resume I accidentally sent them the wrong one. The one I sent was when I was applying for Texas Roadhouse. I am glad that even though they saw my not so good resume they still wanted to interview me!

Thanksgiving 2012

This Thanksgiving Bryce and I were able to go up to Bellingham to visit his family. It was a really fun trip! We ate at different restaurants that Bryce loves to go to and different stores with man stuff in it. The girls took a day trip to Seattle while Bryce and his dad went fishing. Taylor, Holley and I had another girls day where we went to lunch and to see Breaking Dawn. It was a really fun trip and although I was FREEZING TO THE BONE for the whole week we are grateful we were able to go up.

Poem's.

I have never really been into poems. Except for Shel Silverstein's "Where the sidewalk ends". My mom and I have recently become masters of poems. We are counting our calories together and for moral support she sent me a poem one day. Then I sent her one. They are pretty funny. We now send each other 1 poem a day. Sometimes 2 because we are so clever. Our reward is to go to Disney Land together if we lose enough. I want to always remember them so I am going to blog about them. If you ever need some weight loss courage, these poems are sure to help you melt the pounds away.

Poems from my Mom:
Stay on your diet today,
So the pounds will melt away,
So you can come and stay,
With me at Disney.

You can do it
You can lose it
If you want too...
(some poems are better then others)

4th day of dieting
you're doing good
Keeping on tracking
like you know you should.
Losing the weight,
You're sure to win.
Because when you see Mickey
You want to be thin.

Our first dieting weekend
is drawing near,
Being good on the weekend,
Is hard I fear.
But counting and planning,
It can be done
It is worth the hard time
because Disney is fun!

I'm doing good
I'm doing swell
But not eating this candy
Sucks like hell!

Poems from Me:
Today is Wednesday,
Our third day!
Let's keep it up,
So we can see,
Each other at Disney

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I want to go to Disney,
And so do you!

Disney will come,
It will soon be near,
I will make sure I lose,
So I won't be here.
I will be skinny,
So I can see Minnie!

Drop the weight fast
So we can have a nice ass. :)

I'll have to say, dieting is great.
The fun we'll have with our loss of weight
Disney is the place to be,
Skinny and happy with little Jorgie
   **poem by Stephanie

As I lay hear in bed,
I feel thin
Although it's only been a week
We'll be sure to win!
Tell dad to buy my ticket
Because I'll be on my way
I can't wait to celebrate this happy day!

Roses are red
Grass is green.
I want to be skinny,
If you know what I mean.

2 more days
Until we weigh
We hope the pounds drop so we can look hot!
Eating is fun,
But can give you a saggy bum.

I've been wearing sweats,
two days in a row.
I want to wear my jeans,
But my chub still overflows.
After working hard,
It will soon be gone.
Then we can use dads money at disney,
ALL DAY LONG!

As you can see the poems started out pretty simple and now they are funnier and longer. Hope you enjoy! More poems to come!

It's October already?!

I never blog, all I do is update...so here it goes. Since my last post I have continued to go to school! I love it! It's so much fun and it's so hands on that I am very excited to start as a medical assistant! Hopefully as early as February! I have 1 1/2 terms left! Bryce decided to skip this semester because of him not getting into the classes that he needs. He's still working at the fly shop and enjoying every minute of it! He sells alot of products, signs people up for classes, teaches the classes, does guide trips and manages the shop. I'm grateful that he has a job that he loves!

At the end of August I got to take a trip down to San Diego to visit my family! It was lots of fun! We went to Coronado Beach, Sea World and the Safari Park. My parents also has a pool in the back yard so I spent a lot of time out there. It was a fun visit but it was nice to get back to my quiet house :)
Side Story: The first time I went to Sea World was when I was 7. I remember being by the dolphin tank and trying to touch a dolphin, but being 7 it was a little hard. I think my dad was holding Kaylie and she was able to touch one. I was so jealous! I have been wanting to touch a dolphin since then. Unfortunately, I haven't been around any dolphins for the last 15 years....I was so excited to be able to go to Sea World with my mom and sister while I was visiting! I told my mom that I wanted to see the shows but I needed to go to the dolphin tank and touch a dolphin! We went, got a good spot in the front and I put my hand in that water. The dolphins would swim by and then go under the water just as they got to me. But I waited and waited...and waited, and got soaking wet because they would jump right by us! Then the trainers came out and the dolphins went crazy for the treats. The trainers would give them a treat and then send them our way so we could touch them. IT FINALLY HAPPENED! I TOUCHED A DOLPHIN! I had my hand over the water and it swam right up and right under my hand. It was pretty cool! I got to touch it twice! There was a guy who worked there that got a cute picture of me and Kaylie touching the dolphins. But, there was Kaylie, Me, a random lady and then my mom. The picture turned out cute but we didn't want some random lady in our picture so we didn't get it....and we didn't want to spend $17 dollars on it...but it's a dream come true! I was very excited!

One last thing, everyone around me is having babies soon or are pregnant...so I thought I would let you all know that.....we decided not to get on that train and we'll wait for the next one...or 2nd or 3rd one.... :)

So, until then we will be going to school and working, but hopefully something will happen in between my next update that I can let you know about!

*Bryce and I went on a drive through Alpine Loop on Sunday and it was BEAUTIFUL! Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure!

Vistor's!

Since we moved in to our bigger apartment we've had quite a few visitors! First, Kaylie came down from Rexburg for the weekend. She enjoyed having her own room to sleep in, instead of the sleeping in the living room. Next, my family came! They were in the process of moving to San Diego from Virginia so the stopped by for a few days. We crammed all of them in my house. We had my parents in the spare bedroom and the other 3 kids in the living room on the futon and the air mattress. Along with the dog and the cat. The next weekend Kaylie came again and we went to the USA vs Canada Women's Soccer send off to the Olympics game. That was fun!! 2 weeks after that Granny and Glenn came for 2 weeks. They went and did alot of fun stuff around Utah and stayed at my house. They left on a Friday morning and that same day I drove to Rexburg to pick up Kaylie and Brittany so they could fly to San Diego on Tuesday. During the time Kaylie was here we had people over for a movie and a dinner! We have had a fun time with all the people visiting but are so glad to have our house back! Here are some pictures!

New Apartment Pictures!

Here are the pictures of our new apartment! We love it and are soooo glad that we found it! It's not all the way finished because we still have to add a couple of things like curtains, a dresser for Bryce, new chairs for our table, but those aren't that important so here it is! Enjoy!

We've been busy....

because, WE MOVED!! We moved from our tiny, one bedroom basement apartment with no dishwasher, washing machine or garbage disposal to a TWO bedroom, top floor duplex, dishwasher, garbage disposal and a WASHER AND DRYER THAT CAME WITH THE APARTMENT!! We are also allowed to have our cat. YAY! It has been one heck of a process and we are still in the process of getting our other contract sold but we love this new place. If you even need a place to stay you can finally stay at our house! Pictures to come soon!

Update!

Wow, I can't believe that I haven't blogged since December! I just wanted to give you an update of what was going on because I have some big news!!

I am going to school!! I start on Monday!! I am going to Ameritech college for Medical Assisting. It is a year program so I will finish Feb 2013. I am sooo excited! I finally feel like I am moving forward with life rather then just working. School will place me in a doctor's office for an internship which then I will normally be hired from there. I can't wait.

Other then that, Bryce got a new job at Eddie Robinson's fly shop. It's a lot closer then Cabelas so we save money because he doesn't have to drive so far and he gets paid more. He is still in school and has changed his  major from accounting to teaching. He has about 3 years left of school before he can be a real adult. I can't wait.
For now we are working and going to school. We are just livin the life of college students. Fun Stuff!

Anyways that is all.

Love, Jordyn
